Let Go of Your Safety Net & Step Out in Faith for Your WAHM Business

Every work-at-home mom struggles in her business at some point. This week’s guest blogger, Shannon Lambert of MakingMommas.com, walks us through some of HER biggest WAHM struggles – and her realization that sometimes you have to let go of your safety net in order to truly fly!

Go Big or Go Home.

Those words always make me see crowded gyms and cheering fans. Rock and roll music blasts through for 30 seconds while the team takes a time-out to figure out a new plan.

How many times do you want to take a time-out, to figure out a new plan in your business?

Is it when things get intense? When the score is completely one-sided and you feel like calling it quits?

The coach calls the team in for one last pow-wow; one last chance to pull the team together to win this thing. He gives the speech of his lifetime, fully intending to motivate his team into feeling it.

If they can feel it, if they can see the win, then they can pull it off.

Go Big Or Go Home.

Give it your all or get off of the court.

It took me three years to learn this lesson in my own WAHM business. Read More

Why Mom Careers Matter for Our Kids

Want to raise well-adjusted, productive, God-fearing kids? One of the easiest ways to teach your kids incredibly important life lessons that set them up for that kind of success is simply to work in front of them. Check out these 7 Life Lessons Work-at-Home Moms Teach Their Kids!

Let me ask you a quick question, mama: What is your GREATEST motivation? What is the ONE thing that will inspire you to take action?

What is your GREATEST motivation? What is the ONE thing that will inspire you to take action? Click To Tweet

I know for me, internal motivation is NOT one of my great strengths. If I know someone is counting on me, I’m much more likely to do something than if I say I just want to do it for myself.

I will wait until I completely run out of clean clothes before I do the laundry. But, if I know my husband is out of clean work shirts or my daughter is out of clean underwear, I’ll get that laundry done ASAP!

I’m willing to be that your family is your greatest motivator, as well. Even if you don’t want to accomplish that certain task for yourself, you’ll do it because you know it’s for the good of your family.

So, what if I told you that the one thing you’re probably ignoring right now is one thing that could teach your kids some pretty incredible life lessons?

Why Mom Careers Matter for Stay-at-Home Moms

As stay-at-home moms, it’s easy to put our careers on a shelf. But we need to keep them in mind! Here are my top 3 reasons why mom careers matter for SAHMs.

When we’re raising babies, we’re often so focused on those kiddos and our home that our careers often feel like forgotten memories from a previous life. We love being a mom! And we’re completely committed to being the best mom, wife, and home manager we possibly can be.

Okay, maybe that’s glamorizing the SAHM life just a bit…

We DO love being a stay-at-home mom. But, we’re also EXHAUSTED from trying to do all the things that need to be done, not completely screw up our kids, and keep our heads above the ever-rising water.

It’s a never-ending rollercoaster that rides the mountain-top joy of being a SAHM, then plummets to the depths of despair, loneliness, and anxiety.

One of the things I’ve found to help even out that rollercoaster just a bit is to keep the one eye trained on my career. I know, it sounds ridiculous. It sounds like I’m just adding one more thing to my already full plate.

BUT…

It’s actually helped me be a better wife, mom, and homemaker to have something that’s MINE to work toward for a few hours each day. It gives me something bigger than just me, my family, and my home to focus on, dream about, and work toward.

I recognize that not all moms may understand WHY having a mom career – especially an at-home career WHILE we’re raising our babies – is so important. So, allow me to walk you through a few of the big reasons why mom careers matter for SAHMs. Read More

Acting in Faith for Your WAHM Business

If you’re thinking about starting a WAHM business, be sure you are acting in faith as you move forward! Here are 5 ways to start acting in faith today!

Have you ever dreamed, prayed, and believed that God would do something for you? And yet, it never happened?

Let’s say you have this dream of being part of a huge song & dance number for a new Hollywood musical. You tell God how much it would mean to you to be part of something so big and so amazing. But, you never audition or show up to a casting call for extras. (Okay, yes, we’re talking about me here, but I’m sure I’m not the only one out there! —> 🙋🏻‍♀️<—)

Do you really think some casting director is going to call you out of the blue and ask you to be a part of a movie when you have zero experience and no one knows who you are? Not likely.

That dream will STAY a dream unless YOU participate in the process and put yourself out there for an audition. God could just have an opportunity drop in your lap, but most of the time, He wants to know you’re truly invested in the outcome and are willing to put in the work, so He can SHINE through your actions.

James talks about this balance between faith and works in the second chapter of his letter to the scattered twelve tribes, and he’s actually pretty harsh with them about it: Read More

The Mom Career Dilemma: Go back to work or start an at-home business?

Most of us SAHMs will hit this mom career dilemma: should you go back to work or start an at-home business? Let’s think through the major deciding points!

Hey, mama! Is it time for you to go back to work? Whether you still have littles at home and need that second income, or your babies have grown and left the nest and you need something productive to do with your time, most of us Stay-at-Home Moms will face the returning-to-work dilemma at some point.

It’s an extremely common situation, and there isn’t one right solution that fits everyone.

Many moms don’t know if they’re really ready to go back to a job outside the home or can’t imagine how it could work for their families. So, they explore the option of starting an at-home business to help bring in income AND be able to stay home with their babies.

On the flip side, some moms cannot imagine any other option than to go back to an outside-the-home job. The predictability, stability, and adult interactions that come with a job out in “the real world” sound like JUST what they need.

Which option sounds best for YOU?

Let’s take a closer look at three of the biggest deciding factors for moms as they consider returning to work… Read More

7 Steps to Maintaining Laser-Focus in Your WAHM Business

Are you getting too easily distracted in trying to build your business? It happens to the best of us — but it CAN be avoided. Check out these 7 Steps to Maintaining Laser-Focus in Your WAHM Business!

Last week, we talked about how doubt causes us to be double-minded as we build our Work-at-Home Mom businesses. James says that a double-minded man is unstable in all he does (James 1:8), and it’s just as true for our business lives as it is for our faith lives, our marriages, and our parenting!

The LAST thing we want when it comes to our business life is to be unstable. The whole goal is to create a business that will provide career & financial stability!

So, if we want to build successful WAHM businesses that can help us support our families AND give us the freedom to be home and prioritize our roles as moms, we HAVE to learn to be single-minded and laser-focused.

We KNOW double-mindedness and distraction will KILL our WAHM business efforts. We know we HAVE to find and maintain a laser-focus on the business God has called us to.

But HOW??

That’s what we’re diving into today, so let’s get to it! Read More

How Being Double-Minded Will Destroy Your WAHM Business

Are you struggling to get your WAHM Business off the ground? Getting easily distracted? Waffling on those key business decisions? Chances are you’re being double-minded! Not sure what that means? Keep reading to learn how being double-minded will destroy your WAHM Business — and what God says to do about the problem!

One Sunday morning, just a few weeks ago, I was sitting in our church’s worship service, trying to keep Mini-Me paying attention and engaged in what was going on, when suddenly a verse I had been studying all week jumped out at me as if the sound guy had suddenly cranked the pastor’s mic up to full volume:

“He is a double-minded man, UNSTABLE in all he does.”

~ James 1:8 ~

UNSTABLE.

In ALL he (or she) does.

Not just in her faith life.

Not just in her marriage.

Not just in her relationships with her kids.

In EVERYTHING.

And if we’re trying to build a business of any variety, but particularly online, we are typically striving for STABILITY. Being unstable in our WAHM businesses is a recipe for failure – one most of us definitely cannot afford! Read More
